Cirko Center

Opened in 2011, Cirko – Center for New Circus is a circus house that offers experiences in form of performances and festivals. Located in Suvilahti's developing area the building used to serve as the projection room of Suvilahti's old power plant. Nowadays the building offers working spaces for many finnish circus actors, two fully equipped studios that serve as rehearsal, residency and performance venues and a restaurant.

Cirko – Center for New Circus organizes open for public performances and two annual circus festivals: the unique Cirko Festival that offers classics and international visitors and Cirko Pikkolo - a circus festival for children and youth. Together with other events and activities these make a vibrant contribution to the cultural life of Helsinki.

Charged with the task of developing Finnish circus as an art form, and all that this encompasses, we host, plan and support public performances, festivals as well as circus companies. CIRKO’s festival, performance, residency and rehearsal activities help to support and develop the work of circus professionals and supplement the excellent working environment provided by the CIRKO Center.

In the CIRKO center there's also the offices of Circo Aereo, Taikateatteri 13 and the Finnish Youth Circus Association. The library and video archives of Circusinfo Finland offer wide information services concentrating on circus.
